General Products
One cannot distinguish a consumer product from another. Each product should be marked with a unique ID, enabling inspection of each product and identifying:
- Where it was manufactured
- When it was manufactured
- Expiration date
- Production batch - for ingredients follow-up
- Serial Number
The above data, along with any other data required by the manufacturer, are encrypted and printed into a barcode label.
Data collection, for inspection purposes, can be via inspectors along the distribution chain, who collect data on a blind basis utilizing hand-held terminals.
Also the public can serve as data collectors, using the Internet to transmit data to the manufacturer.
The public can use simple tools for barcode reading, found in any home:
- A Cellular phone, using its camera for message creation
- A simple Scanner
- A WEB Camera
